Biography

Elena Dobrovolskaya is a Russian-born artist living in New York, working primarily in the Contemporary Realism style in oil and pastel. Elena began painting in Moscow in 2010 after taking private lessons with the renowned artist Oleg Leonov, a distinguished member of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts. After a year at his studio, she was accepted as a member of the Creative Union of Russian Artists.

She started exhibiting in 2017 and has since then exhibited broadly in the US and Europe, including such big art fairs as ArtExpo NY, LA Art Show, Venice Biennale, Florence Biennale, Focus Art Fair at Saatchi Gallery in London, and Salon Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. In March 2021, Elena’s first SOLO portrait exhibition, “Look into My Eyes,” occurred at the Artifact Gallery in Manhattan, New York.

Elena Dobrovolskaya’s art appeared in French, Italian, and British magazines, most notably House&Garden, GQ, Aesthetica, and London Life. It was also published in the art catalogs “50 Artists to invest in” in Italy in 2020, “Trends in Art: Insights for Collectors” in Great Britain in 2021, “Jaarboek Kunstenaars 23” in the Netherlands, “Important World Artists” Volume V in the US in 2022, and “Great Figuratives” in Italy in 2024. 

In 2012, Elena moved to the US and continued her studies in oil painting, taking art classes and workshops with renowned American portraitists Wendy Caporale, Andrew Lattimore, and Dan Thompson. Elena lives and works in her studio in Somers, Westchester, New York.
