Artist Statement

I always had a big passion for art. Back in 2010, I got the opportunity to live out my dream of developing my painting techniques. I seized the chance to create a new life path for myself. There was no doubt in my mind that I was doing the right thing. Being creative brings me joy, and I am deeply grateful that I have been able to do so.

Biography

Danish artist Sanne Rasmussen came to the art scene after a 20-year career in the financial sector. She attended the Artschool Spektrum in Copenhagen, Denmark. For several years, she was a pupil at Daniel Goldenberg’s private studio, also in Copenhagen.

Sanne’s art is often based on situations from everyday life depicting people on the street of a big city or in the confined space of a cozy cafe. The artist tries to capture a moment frozen in the middle of the city’s hectic pulse. It could be in Copenhagen, London, Paris, or maybe a fictional place in the world. Sanne’s artworks convey her fascination with the city and its dwellers.

The artist works mostly in oil on canvas, often only with 5-6 colors. The interplay of light and shadow gives life and movement to her paintings, but at the same time emanates calm and harmony, where the viewer is offered an inner dialogue with the work. The artist often mixes figurative and abstract styles to highlight the paintings’ central motif.

In recent years, Sanne has participated in many international group exhibitions and held several solo shows. Her paintings are in public and private collections in Denmark, other European countries, and the US.
